This is written as a guide to valuing SAM Coupé hardware and software and is offered as a service to the community and nothing more.
Last reviewed July 2020
For each sale there are a number of elements, divided into three categories:
Capability e.g. ROM version, Memory size
Functionality e.g. Working unit, failed disk drive
Quality e.g. Case condition, box/poly condition
Capability and functionality are objective whereas quality is clearly subjective based on peer review within the community.
Subjective valuations use a grading scale similar to other second hand items such as comics and other collectables.
For calculations the value of the qualitative elements is taken as a percentage of the 'base' Mint cost,
For example a 'widgit' listed at £100 is valued at Mint condition, a Good 'widgit' would be 20% of that so valued at £20.
For each item that is graded, calculate the cost based on the quality grading percentage, note that each item may have a different quality grading.
Add up all relevant items to get a total cost.
